A Lebanese wedding is rarely a single afternoon. There is the ceremony, the dinner, sometimes a henna and a day-after gathering, and the photographs run for hours. Dressing as a guest here asks for a little more thought than most, and a little more glamour. Here is how we guide the women we dress at Nakhle.
Match the formality, then go a touch beyond
Lebanese weddings lean formal. A long gown or a beautifully cut cocktail dress is rarely too much for an evening reception, while a daytime ceremony allows for a refined midi or a tailored dress with a jacket. When in doubt, dress up. It is the rare wedding where a guest regrets looking considered.
The colours to leave at home
White, ivory and champagne belong to the bride; leave them for her. Very pale blush can read as bridal in photographs, so it is worth checking. Beyond that, the season guides you: jewel tones and deep florals for autumn and winter, lighter brights and soft neutrals for a summer garden. If you know the bride's palette, sit near it rather than on top of it.

Dress for a long evening
You will be photographed standing, seated and dancing, so the dress has to hold. Consider fabric that moves, a neckline you do not have to think about, and a heel you can last the night in. Sleeves or a wrap are worth having for a church ceremony or a cooler evening by the sea.
When in doubt, dress up.

The edit for the wedding guest
At Nakhle we carry the European houses made for this. Browse the wedding guest edit, our long and evening dresses and cocktail dresses, then come and be fitted.
Be fitted, not just dressed
Every piece is shaped to you by our in-house tailor before it leaves the boutique. We begin with the occasion and the room, bring a considered selection, and adjust the fit until it is yours. Book a fitting in Kaslik, Hamra or Downtown Beirut, and read more about the season's wedding edit.
Common questions
Can you wear black to a Lebanese wedding? Yes. Black is elegant and widely accepted for an evening reception, though a daytime or garden wedding invites lighter tones.
Long dress or cocktail dress? For an evening reception a long gown is rarely too much. A refined cocktail or midi suits a daytime ceremony.
Which colours should a guest avoid? White, ivory, champagne and very pale blush belong to the bride. Leave them for her.
